5Overall Pleased
By Michael Holsapple
I was a little nervous spending so much money on fabric spray paint. I wasn't familiar with the process nor had I ever seen a finished product, so I took a leap of faith. First, delivery time does take forever. After I talked myself into ordering it, I waited and waited and waited. When it arrived I was pleased to see a note posted to the top of the box stating if I had any issues with the bottles to call immediately. I had read several reviews in which people complained the bottles were defective. I read the enclosed tips and instructions as well as the instructions on the bottle. It's pretty simple and straight forward. I followed the instructions exactly, even waiting 20 minutes between coats.

Some things you need to know: I bought a six pack for a wing back chair, you'll need probably 8 cans, so I have to re-order an additional three pack. If you aren't as picky as myself, you could probably make do with the six pack, however, I want my chair to l ook as close to perfect as possible.

Some reviewers stated that they used this product in their homes. I spray paint everything so I was a little suspicious that this product was so different from regular spray paint it could be used indoors. Yes, it is quite different from regular spray paint, however, if you have nice floors etc.. do not use this indoors. The fumes are not bad at all, however, I had a major mess in my kitchen, even using a tarp. Do not use in your house unless you plan to replace your floors in the near future. I did manage to clean the paint off of my floors, but I won't risk it again. It is as messy as regular spray paint.

My chair had dark stains. I went from a golden yellow to plum. I was disappointed and freaked out that you could still see the stains by the third coat. I took a chance, figuring I wasn't happy with the coverage thus far, it couldn't get any worse...I took a paper towel and sort of lightly brushed the fab ric on the back of the chair from top to bottom. I managed to blend in the stain spots that were showing through, it gave it sort fo a brushed look. The good news is that I managed to cover the spots, by blending, and I beleive after another coat it will look perfect.

When this project is said and done, I will have spent a little over $100. I paid $40 for the chair. I don't know what the going rate is for re-upholstering a chair is, but this was within my budget and I'm super pleased with how it turned out. Overall, plan to buy at least 8 cans for a regular chair (just for regular coverage, that's not to darken the color, I simply want all of my chair covered) and it's messy, but if your chair is in good condition and you just want a color change, you will be please with this product. If you have some spots, you'll need to experiment a little to blend those areas. BTW, the plum is beautiful. I was wanting more of a "purpley" color to add a touch of whimsy to my traditional piece, however, this color is the traditional "grandma's recliner plum." :)
